Feb 19, 2010 - Ft Myers Beach

Today was sunny off and on, but still a bit chilly. We visited Beth’s aunt and uncle at their winter place today, where I helped him lift some heavy stuff, then we all went sightseeing.

Our first stop was the Fort Myers Beach. There were very few brave swimmers; most people were sitting back by the cement wall, out of the breeze and as far away from the water as they could get. Up on the pier it was downright cold. Althought we did see one parasailer go aloft, for the most part, the vendors on the beach that rent jet skis, beach chairs and umbrellas, sell cold drinks, etc., were standing around, drummming their fingers and frowning.

The restaurants,  however, were doing a great business. We had a late lunch at Parrot Key Caribbean Grill, right on the water. Very Key West-ish. Those of you who have been there will know exactly what I mean. Beth’s aunt took us to her favorite outlet mall, just so Beth could go to the Crocs Outlet. She got two pair for less than $8.

Back to camp to pack up what we can, take down the rDome, and do all the laundry. Tomorrow we head to Lake Okeechobee.
